This release notes discuss the HP-UX 11i v2 (September 2009) release of the Support Tools Manager (STM).

Overview

The Support Tools Manager (STM) provides a set of online support tools for the HP-UX system, enabling you to verify and troubleshoot system hardware, and to examine system logs.

STM offers several tool types, including Information tools, Verifiers, Exercisers, Expert tools, Firmware Update tools, Diagnostics and Utilities.

Pre-requisites

Following is the software pre-requisite for  installing Diagnostics and Support Tools:

EMS version A.04.20.23 or later

Note: The requirements are available on the Operating Environment (OE) media.

Defect Fix

The following defect is fixed for the HP-UX 11i v2 September 2009 release and is supported on both HP Integrity and HP 9000 systems:

• QXCR1000959291
  Info tool, run on Logical Unit Number (LUN) paths takes longer time to complete. This issue is now fixed.

Known Problems

Following is the known problem and workaround for the HP-UX 11i v2  September 2009 release:
Known Problem
Starting with HP-UX 11i v2 May 2005 release of Online Diagnostics, the format of the contents in the System Activity Log file is enhanced. As a result, the System Activity Log file from an earlier release of Online Diagnostics may not be supported.
Workaround
Remove the unformatted System Activity Log files from the /var/stm/logs/sys/ directory. The System Activity Log files are created dynamically during the next system activity in the upgraded environment.
