HP VSE Management Software Version 4.1 Installation and Update Guide for HP-UX > Chapter 3 InstallationPreparing a ProLiant SUSE Linux Managed System |
|
This section provides instructions on how to prepare a ProLiant system running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 or 10 to be a managed system in VSE Management Software. Both x86 and x64 (AMD64/EM64T) platforms running these SUSE Linux versions are shipped with OpenWBEM, which is not supported by VSE Management Software. OpenPegasus is the supported WBEM Services for VSE Management Software. Because OpenPegasus WBEM Services cannot be installed when OpenWBEM is present on the system, the following procedures describe how to remove OpenWBEM, install OpenPegasus WBEM Services, and deploy the VSE Agents required for managing the SUSE Linux system. If the managed system is already running OpenPegasus 2.5 or greater then no action is required. Procedure 3-20 Remove OpenWBEM OpenWBEM must be removed from the system before installing OpenPegasus WBEM onto a ProLiant managed system running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 or 10. Use the following procedure to remove OpenWBEM. Procedure 3-21 Download OpenPegasus WBEM Use the following steps to download OpenPegasus WBEM packages from the HP website.
Procedure 3-22 Install OpenPegasus WBEM After downloading the OpenPegasus package, install it and start OpenPegasus WBEM Services on the system. At this point the Linux managed system has OpenPegasus WBEM installed and configured. The next steps provide information on how to configure the CMS to enable VSE Agent Distributor for VSE Agents. Additional Configuration StepsIf your Linux system is not an HP SIM managed system yet, refer to the “Setting Up Managed Systems” section of the HP Systems Insight Manager 4.3 Installation and User Guide at http://www.docs.hp.com. This document also contains information on how to configure WBEM credentials for a Linux system. At this point users can install VSE Agents onto the Linux managed systems, necessary for VSE Management. Refer to “Install Linux VSE Agents” for instructions on how to install HP WBEM Providers onto Linux managed systems. |
