HP Server Migration Pack — Universal Edition

SMP Universal can be used to migrate an operating system, applications, and data from one server to another. For a list of the types of migrations supported by SMP Universal, see “Supported Migration Types”. To use SMP Universal, the source and destination server agents must be running. Start the migration wizard in either of the following ways.

	License Verification: Before performing a migration, review all hardware, operating system, and application licenses on the source server and acquire all valid licenses necessary for the destination server. Some hardware, software, and operating systems license agreements might require you to purchase a new license for the destination server, or require revalidation or reactivation of the migrated image on the destination server for software that is keyed to the specific hardware.

SMP Universal supports concurrent migrations, in which two migrations can be run simultaneously from the same SMP Universal Application Station. For details about concurrent migrations and other features of SMP Universal, see the HP Server Migration Pack – Universal Edition User Guide.

Migration Wizard Page

The Migration Wizard page lists the types of migrations that are supported. When a migration type is selected, the steps to perform the migration and corresponding images are displayed on the screen.

To configure the Migration Wizard screen to be displayed when the SMP Universal application is opened, on the Overview page, select the option “Start the Migration Wizard when opening this application”.
