To import HP OVPA (formerly HP MeasureWare) system utilization data, the system must be discovered by HP SIM. You can verify that a system has been discovered by launching Virtualization Manager under SIM. (From the HP SIM menu bar, select Tools->Integrated Consoles->Virtualization Manager…) If the system is present in the list of systems, then the system has been discovered by SIM.

If the system has not been discovered, you can add it manually in the Systems Insight Manager Discovery screen. (From the HP SIM menu bar, select Options->Discovery...) After you add a system and click Run Now on the Discovery screen, verify that the system appears in the System View of the Virtualization Manager.

After you verify that the system of interest has been discovered by Systems Insight Manager and that it appears in the Virtualization Manager System view, you can import OVPA system utilization data into Capacity Advisor using the following command-line process:

  • Add user login information to the SSH settings for your specific system on the System Protocol Settings screen (Options->Protocol Settings->System Protocol Settings).

  • From the command line on the CMS, and logged in as root, execute the capopvaextract command, giving the fully qualified system name as the first argument. (See the capovpaextract(1m) manpage for details about this command.)

    For example:

    #/opt/vse/bin/capovpaextract node12.company.com
