This document is divided into the following four Parts:

  • Part I — Introduction

  • Part II — Administration

  • Part III — Managing and Authenticating Users

  • Part IV — Reference

Part I “Part — Introduction” introduces you to the HP-UX AAA Server product and the RADIUS protocol.

Part II “Part — Administration” provides step-by-step procedures to follow when using Server Manager to administer your AAA environment.

Part III “Part — Managing and Authenticating Users” describes how to store user profiles in various locations and provides information on specific authentication types such as EAP, Oracle and ProLDAP.

Part IV “Part — Reference” provides reference information to supplement the task-based information in the previous Parts of the document. Use Part IV to learn more about non-task-based items such as the finite state machine, configuration files, and attribute-value pairs.

Typographical Conventions

Throughout this manual, certain terms may have one or more text formats applied to indicate what type of object is being described.

Keywords, parameters, arguments, or options

• Bold

• The type parameter specifies what kind of client is being defined by the entry

Placeholders that must be replaced by a real name or value

• Bold

• You must specify a secret, but version is not required.

References (except in sample code or syntax) to the following: • Application commands, utilities, and scripts • Statements and operators • Functions, data structures (and their members), data types, classes • Attributes and variables • Dialogs, prompts, messages, and text entry fields • UNIX user or group accounts

Monotype

• You can use the radpwtst utility to authenticate a test user.

• Complex policy can be represented by boolean expressions that use AND or OR but not XOR.

• These macros provide sprintf() like logging capability.

• The AUTH_REQ data structure represents a user access or accounting request.

• You will need to complete the Password field in the User dialog.

Typed user entry

• Type exit in the Message text entry box.

Keystrokes, menu commands, GUI controls, and similar user input

Bold

• Press Ctrl+Enter

• Select the File, Save menu command

• Select OK

Special terms or emphasized wording

Italic

When logging occurs, it can be modified.
The AAA server may operate as an end or proxy server.

 

Document Advisories

Different types of notes appear in the text to call your attention to information of special importance. They are enclosed in ruling lines with a header that indicates the type of note and its urgency.

CAUTION: Describes an action that must be avoided or followed to prevent a loss of data.
IMPORTANT: Notes that provide information that are essential to completing a task.
NOTE: Emphasizes or supplements parts of the text. You can disregard the information in a note and still complete a task.
