What’s in this Version

The following information is for the 10GigEthr-00 (ixgbe) gigabit Ethernet Driver for HP-UX 11i v1 of September 2005. The ixgbe driver supports the AB287A 10 Gigabit Ethernet card.You can check to see if this driver is present on your system by running the commands described in ““How to Verify that the Correct Driver is in the Kernel”” in this document.

The September 2005 HP-UX 11i v1 release contains a software bundle called 10GigEthr-00 that includes everything needed to run the AB287A 10 Gigabit Ethernet card on HP-UX 11i v1. To install 10 Gigabit Ethernet for HP-UX 11i v1, just load either the single 10GigEthr-00 bundle or the entire operating environment (OE) from the distribution media. If you are adding the driver from the September 2005 application media, the rest of these notes are for information only.

If you downloaded the HP-UX 11i v1 10GigEthr-00 driver from the web, you need at least patch PHNE_32396 described below. The HP-UX 11i v1 September 2005 release contains the following:




	NOTE: The following patches are required only if you have downloaded the HP-UX 11i v1 version of the 10GigEther-00 driver from the web. For all others (if loading from CD or DVD), it is information only on the contents of the September 2005 release.

PHNE_32396 -- Patch for the data link provider interface (DLPI). Patch PHNE_32396 is also available on the HP Information Technology Resource Center (ITRC). Patches are also available for downloading at: http://itrc.hp.com. Select “patch database,” and search for the needed patch number. If not already registered, you can register for free on the ITRC home page.
PHCO_31314 -- Patch to use the System Admin Mgr (SAM) for configuring 10 Gigabit Ethernet on HP-UX 11i v1.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.4 software is required to enable TCP segmentation offload (TSO) for use with 10 Gigabit Ethernet on HP-UX 11i v1. 10 Gigabit Ethernet Functionality Not on HP-UX 11i v1

The HP-UX 11i v1 10 Gigabit Ethernet product does not support use of multi-queue functionality. Multi-queue is supported on HP-UX 11i v2.
