When an object fails or experiences an error, an alert icon appears in the status area of the main window and/or on the object's icon (see Figure 2-15 “Alerts for a Volume”). If an alert icon appears, you should review the contents of the Alert Monitor window. The Alert Monitor window lists information about objects that have failed or experienced other errors (see Figure 2-16 “Alert Monitor Window”). Each object is listed with a description of the failure or error. After you review the alerts listed in the Alert Monitor window, the alert icon at the bottom of the main window changes to a check mark to let you know that you have reviewed current alerts. If more alerts are added to the Alert Monitor window, the check mark icon changes to the alert icon to let you know that there are new alerts. The File menu accesses properties for objects with alerts or closes the window. Context-sensitive popup menus also access properties for objects with alerts. To access a popup menu, right-click on an object with an alert. After reviewing the alert(s) in the Alert Monitor window, you should try to correct the problem. For more information about an object listed in the Alert Monitor window, go to the object's Properties window. You can use the Alert Monitor window as follows:
