Preface

This second printing of the manual describes the LVM PVlink feature in a Metrocluster CA EVA environment. In addition, this guide describes how to configure disaster tolerant clusters using Serviceguard, Metrocluster CA XP, Metrocluster EMC SRDF, and Continentalclusters. The contents are as follows:

Chapter 1 “Disaster Tolerance and Recovery in a Serviceguard Cluster” is an overview of disaster tolerant cluster configurations.
Chapter 2 “Building an Extended Distance Cluster Using Serviceguard” shows the creation of disaster tolerant cluster solutions using extended Serviceguard cluster configurations.
Chapter 3 “Designing a Metropolitan Cluster” shows the creation of disaster tolerant cluster solutions using the metropolitan cluster products.
Chapter 4 “Designing a Continental Cluster” shows the creation of disaster tolerant solutions using the Continentalclusters product.
Chapter 5 “Building Disaster-Tolerant Serviceguard Solutions Using Metrocluster with Continuous Access XP” shows how to integrate physical data replication via Continuous Access XP with metropolitan and continental clusters.
Chapter 6 “Building Disaster Tolerant Serviceguard Solutions Using Metrocluster with Continuous Access EVA” shows how to integrate physical data replication via Continuous Access EVA with metropolitan and continental clusters.
Chapter 7 “Building Disaster Tolerant Serviceguard Solutions Using Metrocluster with EMC SRDF” shows how to integrate physical data replication via EMC Symmetrix disk arrays. --shows the configuration fo a special continental cluster that uses more than two disk arrays.
Chapter 8 “Cascading Failover in a Continental Cluster” shows the configuration for a special continental cluster that uses more than two disk arrays.
“Appendix A “Environment File Variables for Serviceguard Integration with Continuous Access XP” documents the environment template file variables used with Metrocluster CA and the XP series disk arrays.
“Appendix B “Environment File Variables for Metrocluster CA EVA”documents the environment template file variables used with Metrocluster EVA series disk arrays.
“Appendix C “Environment File Variables for Metrocluster SRDF” lists all the configuration file variables used in defining the continental cluster configuration.
“Appendix E “Continentalclusters Command and Daemon Reference”documents the Continentalclusters command set.
“Appendix D “Configuration File Parameters for Continentalclusters”documents the Continentalclusters command set.
