HP Superdome Cabinet Overview

Each HP Superdome cabinet has the following physical features. Note that all I/O peripherals reside in an external rack, not in the Superdome cabinets.

  • Front

The front of each cabinet includes the following items:

    • Power—48V Power Switch.

    • Cabinet LCD—Indicates the cabinet ID.

    • Cabinet Service ("Attention") LED.

    • Cell Power LEDs and Cell Service LEDs—These LEDs are visible when the front cabinet door is open.

You can access the cells themselves by opening the cabinet door and also removing the RFI shield. Only HP support personnel may access cells, for instance when adding or replacing cells.

    • I/O Chassis LEDs and Access—I/O bay 0 is located in the lower front part of the cabinet.

You can view the I/O chassis power LEDs and service LEDs when the front cabinet door is open. Each I/O chassis has its own power LED and service LED.

Each PCI card slot within each I/O chassis also has its own power LED and service LED.

    • Bulk Power Supplies (BPS 0-5)—These power supplies are visible when the front cabinet door is open.

They are located in the bottom front of the cabinet.

  • Rear

The rear of each cabinet includes the following items:

    • Power—The main cabinet power breaker or power breakers. These are located in the bottom rear of the cabinet.

    • Service Interface—The Guardian Service Processor (GSP) boards and the UGUY utilities board are located in the middle rear of the cabinet. Various physical service connections also are accessible here.

    • I/O Chassis Access—I/O bay 1 is in the lower rear of each cabinet.
