The Technical Print Service consists of a run-time product and an application programmer's interface. The run-time product is bundled with the HP-UX operating system. The Technical Print Service application programming libraries are provided in the HP-UX Developer's Toolkit.

Pre-Loaded Systems

If your workstation is a pre-loaded (Instant Ignition) system, the Technical Print Service run-time product is already installed as part of the HP-UX operating system.

If you do not know whether the Technical Print Service is loaded, you can check by using the swlist command. You must have root or superuser permission to run swlist.

Enter this command in a terminal window:

swlist -l product TechPrintServ

The Technical Print Service product name and description will be displayed if the product is loaded on your system. Otherwise, swlist reports that the specified product could not be found.

Loading from Media

If you are loading your operating system from media or adding the Technical Print Service to an existing system, you will need to use swinstall to select and install the appropriate software bundle.

The Technical Print Service product, titled TechPrintServ, is located in the HP-UX Runtime Environment software bundle. Localized versions are provided for German, French, and Japanese.
