Additional Third-Party Software Cannot Be Installed on the Head Node Until Network Connectivity is Established

Chapter 3 in the HP XC System Software Installation Guide entitled “Installing Software on the Head Node” discusses installing additional third-party software (Task 4) before the system image is propagated to all client nodes.

Network connectivity on the head node is not established until after the cluster_prep utility is run. Therefore, you cannot install third-party software over the network at this point in the installation and configuration process.

If the software is available from a DVD or CD that you have in your possession, it is perfectly acceptable to install the software from the local distribution source after the head node is installed.
