In the following summaries, you can obtain a general picture of how the December 2007 release of HP-UX 11i v2 differs from the June 2007 release of HP-UX 11i v2.

  • Distributed Systems Administration Utilities: Updated to incorporate defect fixes. See “Distributed Systems Administration Utilities”.

  • Dynamic Root Disk (DRD): Introduces support for root volumes managed by VxVM Release 4.1. See “Dynamic Root Disk”.

  • Feature Enablement Patch Bundle: FEATURE11i bundle consists of all its previous patches plus new enablement patches for HPVM, PCIe error handling, Audio Development Kit, PCI Mux, Trusted Computing Services, and vPars. See “Feature Enablement Patch Bundle - Feature11i”.

  • HP OpenView GlancePlus Pak: Updated to version 4.70. A set of new metrics have been added in HP Performance Agent. See “HP OpenView GlancePlus Pak”.

  • “HP Partitioning and Virtual Server Environment”

    • New: Accelerated Virtual I/O: This solution is composed of four new products: GuestAvioLan, HostAvioLan, GuestAvioStor, and HostAvioStor. The new AVIO storage and lan devices deliver a new re-architected I/O path for HPVM, and provide significant performance improvements over the existing VIO products. All four AVIO products are Default-Installed. See “Accelerated Virtual I/O”.

    • Application Discovery Agent (AppDiscAgent): Updated to version 3.0.01 to incorporate defect fixes. See “HP Application Discovery”.

    • HP Global Workload Manager: Updated to version A.03.00.01.x to provide more flexibility in managing your systems. Changes include conditional policies that take effect based on Serviceguard events, new gwlmstatus command, and other features. Support for Linux managed nodes has been removed.     • HP Integrity Virtual Machines Provider (VM Provider): Upgraded from A.03.00 to A.03.50 to provide support for new features in HP Integrity Virtual Machines. See “HP Integrity Virtual Machines Provider (VM Provider)”

    • HP Integrity Virtual Machines (VMGuestLib): Upgrade from version A.03.00 includes support for the new features of HP Integrity Virtual Machines A.03.50. See “HP Integrity Virtual Machines (VMGuestLib)”.

    • HP-UX Virtual Partitions: Version A.04.05. provides support for mixed HP-UX 11i v1/v2 vPars environments, which enable virtual partitions running HP-UX 11i v1 (B.11.11) and HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) to exist in the same nPartition. Purchased separately. See “HP-UX Virtual Partitions”.

    • HP-UX Workload Manager (AR Media Release): As of version A.03.01, WLM on the AR media no longer includes PRM in the bundle. However, with your purchase of WLM, you are entitled to a PRM license. See “HP-UX Workload Manager (AR Media Release)”.

    • nPartition Provider: Updated to version B.01.07 to incorporate defect fixes. See “nPartition Provider”.

    • Utilization Provider: Updated to a new version number (A.01.06.03.01) to correct errors in the previous release (version A.01.06.02.xx), which does not operate correctly under HP-UX 11i v2. See “Utilization Provider”

  • HP System Management Homepage: Updated to version A.2.2.7 to incorporate defect fixes. See “HP System Management Homepage”.

  • HP-UX Accounts for Users and Groups: Updated to support SHA 512-based password hashing in HP-UX. See “HP-UX Accounts for Users and Groups”.

  • HP-UX Kernel Configuration: Updated to incorporate defect fixes. See “HP-UX Kernel Configuration”.

  • HP-UX Peripheral Devices Manager: Updated to incorporate defect fixes. See “HP-UX Peripheral Device Tool”.

  • Ignite-UX: Updated to version C.7.4. New features include support for USB 2.0 I/0 protocol; recovery support for Agile SAS addressing; enhanced search/sort capabilities for large numbers of disks; and more. See “Ignite-UX”.

  • Online Diagnostics: Now supports the HP Integrity BL870c Server Blade. Enabled to handle PCIe errors on specified Integrity systems. Additional cards and storage units are supported. See “Online Diagnostics”.

  • Quality Pack Patch Bundles: Updated for the December 2007 release. See “Quality Pack Patch Bundles”.

  • Software Distributor: Updated to incorporate defect fixes. See “Software Distributor”.

  • Software Package Builder: Now supports the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.5 in addition to the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.4. See “Software Package Builder”.

  • System Fault Management: Now supports the HP Integrity BL870c Server Blade. Supports the PCI Express interface events on selected systems. Includes defect fixes. See “System Fault Management ”.

  • Update-UX: Updated to reflect defect fixes. See “Update-UX”.

  • WBEM Services and Providers

Chapter 6

  • HP CIFS Server: Updated to enhance the wbinfo tool with two new options, -c and -C, which can be used to display the total number of users or groups for a domain. See “HP CIFS Server”.

  • HP-UX Memory File System (MemFS): Updated to allow the customer to mount a MemFS instance without the need of a separate swap device, and more. (This is a Software Pack product available on the web.) See “HP-UX Memory File System”.

  • New: HP-UX Parallel Umounts (UmountallCmdEnh) implements parallel unmounts. (This is a Software Pack product available on the web.) See “HP-UX Parallel Umounts”.

  • Firefox, FirefoxSrc: Updated to version 2.0.0.4. Fixes several security vulnerabilities reported by the Mozilla Foundation. See “Browsers”.

  • Thunderbird, ThunderbirdSrc: Updated to version 2.0.0.6. Fixes several security vulnerabilities reported by the Mozilla Foundation. See “Browsers”.

  • New: HP-UX Mobile IPv4: Provides mobility support for mobile devices to migrate from their home network to other networks, either within the same administrative domain or to other administrative domains on the Internet. See “HP-UX Mobile IPv4”.

  • “HP-UX Web Server Suite”

  • “Internet Services”

    • BIND: Updated to version 9.3.2 to incorporate a fix to one security defect. (This is a Software Pack product available on the web.) See “BIND”.

  • LDAP-UX Integration: Updated to version B.04.15. Supports the new set of non-interactive LDAP command-line tools that allow you to list, add, modify or delete user accounts and groups in an LDAP directory server. See “LDAP-UX Integration”.

  • Red Hat Directory Server for HP-UX: Version B.07.10.30 mainly provides defect fixes. See “Red Hat Directory Server for HP-UX”.

  • HP-UX Bastille and Install Time Security: Update includes integration with HP-UX Software Assistant (carried over from September 2007), defect fixes, security configuration reporting, and configuration drift detection from saved baseline. See “HP-UX Bastille and Install Time Security”.

  • HP-UX IPFilter: Updated so that Dynamic Connection Allocation (DCA) feature and ipftest utility now support IPv6 rules. Includes other changes. See “HP-UX IPFilter”.

  • HP-UX Secure Shell: Updated to version A.04.50.21 to incorporate defect fixes. See “HP-UX Secure Shell”.

  • HP-UX Security Attributes Configuration: Text user interface (TUI) now supports form-based inputs. Updated to incorporate defect fixes. See “HP-UX Security Attributes Configuration ”.

  • HP-UX Software Assistant: Updated to version C.01.02 to incorporate defect fixes. See “HP-UX Software Assistant”.
