scsi_maxphys: maximum allowed length of an I/O on all SCSI devices.

scsi_max_qdepth: maximum number of I/Os that target will queue up for execution

default_disk_ir: enable/disable the use of a device's write cache in the SCSI subsystem

TIP: To find information about other obsoleted kernel tunables listed in this document, perform a search on the word “tunable”.

Summary of Change

The following SCSI kernel tunables have been obsoleted:

  • scsi_maxphys: This tunable is replaced by the escsi_maxphys attribute, which can be get and set through the scsimgr command. See scsimgr(1M).

  • scsi_max_qdepth: This tunable is replaced by the max_q_depth attribute, which can be set through the scsimgr command. See scsimgr(1M).

  • default_disk_ir: This tunable is replaced by the disable_flags attribute, which can be set through the scsimgr command to enable or disable write cache of a set of block devices. See scsimgr(1M) and scsimgr_esdisk(5). The scsictl command can also be used to enable or disable write cache for a specific disk device. See scsictl(1M).
