Before you install HP-UX 11i v1.6, check the model and other information on the system. You can use this information in the “System and Cold-Install Requirements” Identify modelTo determine the model number of your system, enter: model To verify that HP-UX 11i v1.6 is supported on your system see “System Configurations”. From EFI you can identify the model by interrupting the autoboot process in the boot manager, entering the EFI shell, and using the info sys command: Shell> info sys The sample output should appear as follows:
Identify OS and OETo identify the OS version that your system is currently running, enter: uname -r After cold-installing to HP-UX 11i v1.6, you'll notice that uname identifies the 11i release as B.11.22. When a system has HP-UX 11i v1.6 installed, you can determine which revision is installed by entering the following command: /usr/sbin/swlist -l bundle The HPUXBaseAux bundle indicate the current installed revision level. The revision level is indicated both in the bundle version number and the description text. To identify the Operating Environment currently installed on your system, use swlist. For example: /usr/sbin/swlist The output of this command includes a line which identifies the installed OE. For example, the HP-UX 11i v1.6 OE July 2002 release generates this line: HPUX11i-OE B.11.22 HP-UX 11i Operating Environment Component Identify installed softwareTo identify the software products on a system or a media, use swlist. For example, to show revision and descriptive title of all software installed on a system, enter: /usr/sbin/swlist For example, to list all products and their versions on a DVD mounted at /cdrom, enter: /usr/sbin/swlist -s /cdrom To get table of contents and product details, enter: /usr/sbin/swlist -dvl product -a readme @ /cdrom swlist has many options to expand or narrow the listing to specific attributes; see the swinstall(1M) manpage or the Software Distributor Administrator Guide, available on the Instant Information CD and on this web site: http://docs.hp.com/hpux/os/11iV1.6
