If you have a system that is already running HP-UX 11i V1.6, such as a system that was factory ignited, then you may only need to check for the latest, critical patches to have the most up-to-date system.

Choosing the Configuration

How you choose to configure your system affects how you use this guide. For example, you may choose one of the following paths:

  • If you ordered one of the server configurations with HP-UX 11i v1.6 pre-installed, or pre-ignited, this guide can still provide you with valuable information about configuring your system, as well as peripherals, software, and more.

  • If you ordered a server or workstation without the OS pre-installed, then you need to follow the install instructions in Chapter 3 “Installing HP-UX 11i Version 1.6”.

    WARNING! The i2000 workstations ship with Windows 2000 pre-installed. If you follow the install instructions in Chapter 3 “Installing HP-UX 11i Version 1.6”, you will overwrite the Windows 2000 operating system.
