The following problems are known to occur in the HP-UX 11i v1.6 release.

HP CIFS Server product

The HP CIFS Server cannot update the Unix password if any of the Unix username characters are uppercase. If the 'unix password sync' configuration is enabled, so that when the Windows client changes its password, the CIFS Server will attempt to change the Unix password in the /etc/passwd file to match the password as set in the CIFS client. The CIFS Server will fail to update the Unix password if the Unix username has any uppercase characters in it.

The solution is to use lowercase characters in the Unix username

NOTE: The new version of the HP CIFS Server A.01.08 is based on Samba 2.2.3a and is available on HP-UX 11i version 1.6 release. Please refer to the HP CIFS Server 2.2a (version A.01.08) Release Notes for new features, known problems and workarounds for this product. The CIFS Server 2.2a (version A.01.08) Release Notes are available in the Networking and Communication Section of the HP document web site:

ONC product

The symbolic link for /usr/lib/pa20_64/libstraddr.1 is missing for HP-UX 11iv1.6 release on the Itanium-based system. As the result, the PA-64 bit applications that require the NAME-to-ADDRESS translation running on the system will fail.The solution is before running ONC applications that require the NAME-to-ADDRESS translation, you need to set the symbolic link manually from /usr/lib/pa20_64/libstraddr.1 to /usr/lib/pa20_64/libstraddr.so.1 on the system.We strongly recommend that you manually set the soft link immediately after installing the HP-UX 11iv1.6 OS on your Itanium-based system to eliminate a problem when you execute 64-bit PA applications. Only 64-bit PA ONC applications use this library.

Use the following command:

$ ln -s /usr/lib/pa20_64/libstraddr.1
/usr/lib/pa20_64/libstraddr.so.1

After executing the command, enter the following command for verification:

$ ll /usr/lib/pa20_64/libstraddr*

The sample output should appear as follows:

-r-xr-xr-x 1 bin bin 14616 Jul 16 12:30 /usr/lib/pa20_64/libstraddr.1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root sys 12 Jul 24 12:44 /usr/lib/pa20_64/libstraddr.so.1 -> libstraddr.1

Known Issues With OE Media Install Tool and Network Depots

The Ignite-UX install tool on the OE media supports the use of network depots. However, network depots must match the media depots for the choices in the install tool to work properly.

The Ignite-UX documentation also explains the setup and use of network depots without using the OE media for each installation. See the following web site for information on the Ignite-UX product:
